Parts of the respiratory system
- Nose: It
consists of two large cavities; its function is to let in the air.
- Pharynx: Helps that the air to go
to the lower airways.
- Epiglottis: Prevents
that food enter in the larynx and trachea.
- Larynx: The main function is the filtration of the inspired it lets the air pass to the trachea and the lungs.
- Windpipe/Trachea: Its
formed by cartilaginous rings, which connect the larynx with the lungs.
- Bronchus:
it conducts the air that goes form the trachea to the bronchioles.
- Lungs: They are two organs in
form of a sponge composed of millions of alveoli.
- Diaphragm: I'ts a muscle that help
to the respiration with the muscles of the sides.
